Short Definition: The ability of a contractor to delegate work to a substitute.

Long Definition: Personal service is a critical factor in IR35 status determination. Contracts that allow contractors to send a suitably skilled substitute demonstrate independence. However, if the client insists on the personal service of the contractor, it may indicate employment.
